Some designers start a project by deciding choosing type, not worrying about layout, colours or anything else at the beginning. They simply ask the question of “what typeface should I use”. After choosing their type, they look for cues within the typeface that can then be extended to other design elements on the page, such as rounder corners. Type can also be used to set the vertical layout of a page based on the font size you choose and its line height.
